Tan Tax Update from the

Indoor Tanning Association

            While the 10% tax on tanning services has been signed into law, the Indoor Tanning Association has been unsuccessful in having it removed during the reconciliation process, but has not given up on having the tax repealed.  Our allies in Congress have pledged to work with the industry to repeal the tax and we are actively trying to determine the best way to accomplish that goal.  In the meantime, continue to make your concerns known to the elected officials.        Until we are successful, you should be aware that the tax will be effective on July 1, 2010.  The tax is only on tanning services involving UV light.  The tax is to be paid at the time the UV service is delivered, by the consumer and collected by the business. The IRS is required to issues final regulations and guidelines, but has not done so as of this update.  We will continue keep you posted on any future developments.

VIP Membership's

Due to this new Tan Tax Law requiring business to collect this tax  effective July 1,  2010 each VIP draft amount will be charged the additional 10% Tan Tax. 

 On July 15, 2010 all VIP members who have a draft date of the 15th of the month will be charged an additional 10% tax on their membership.

On July 25, 2010 all VIP members who have a draft date of the 25th of the month will be charged an additional 10% tax on their membership.

Example: You are a Tier II VIP which is $24.99 a month. You have been paying $27.36 a month including Tn taxes. You will now pay $29.86 which is an additional $2.50 in taxes.
